Description

River City Saga: Journey to the West reimagines the classic Chinese literary epic Journey to the West through the comedic lens of the Kunio‑kun / River City universe. Set during the Tang Dynasty, the world has fallen into chaos as demons roam freely, leaving humanity without hope of salvation. In response, the Buddha establishes the legendary Journey to Fetch the Scriptures, tasking a monk with traveling west to retrieve sacred texts that can restore peace.

Sealed beneath a mountain for 500 years after wreaking havoc in Heaven, Sun Wukong is freed when the monk Tang Sanzang begins the pilgrimage. Wukong joins the journey as Sanzang’s protector to atone for his sins, soon accompanied by the carefree Zhu Bajie and the serious Sha Wujing. Together, the group sets out on a perilous 108,000‑mile journey toward Tianzhu, facing demonic threats and powerful foes at every turn.
